Diwali ofcourse is the time to savour on sweets and goodies and yes during this time we all should take better care of our health, environment etc.. Nowadays, the celebration of diwali is not at all environment friendly and is one of the biggest cause of health related problems, whether its problems related to breathing, skin irritation or burning and eye related problems.. There are so many to list down. Here are some helpful tips we all should take care of for a healthy and safe diwali:

  • Sweets/Mithais are hard to resist at this time. Obiviously there is an increase in the demand of same in market as well. So keeping health in mind its better to avoid snacks with high content of sugar and should prefer the sweets made at home or from some good branded shops.
  • Its better to keep yourself hydrated all the time, as we stay busy in visiting family and friends in distribution of gifts and sweets and its quite natural to have chances of cravings all the time. So in order to avoid this false hunger and unnecessary bloating and retention of water, hydrating oneself is very important.
  • We all are very much aware of the increase in the pollution levels during diwali, yet we oversee the hazardious impacts and go with over purchasing of the firec-rackers. I know kids can’t resist without bursting crackers but yes we should make them learn about the limit in which crackers should be bursted.
  • Avoid wearing loose fitted clothes or slippers to avoid burn injuries, never burst crackers barefooted.
  • Always keep a bucket filled with sand or water.
  • Light the crackers from some distance and avoid bursting them in crowded areas or may be roadsides. Don’t allow your children to play with crackers at home specially.
  • Always stay with your kid while they are firing up the crackers, never leave them alone. They aren’t mature enough, even if they look so.
  • Use earplugs, if possible, specially for babies and toddlers, they have very sensitive ears.
  • Don’t keep bursting the crackers until late night, it increases noise pollution levels as well which is very stressful and disturbing for the old aged people and babies. Kindly adhere to the timing restrictions.
  • Last but not the least, don’t go overboard with consuming alcohol, its not at all good for health.

Diwali is a festival of joy, that brings in happiness. So make this diwali remarkable for your near and dear ones, embrace them with lots of joy. Because the idea of diwali is to bring the aspect of celebration into our life not the risk of inviting health problems.
