Almost everyone of you guys would agree with me, if I say, sleep is the most luxurious phenomenon in this world. To me, sleep is always mysterious. Isn’t it very strange, how actually sleep works, and how we feel rejuvenated after sleep. A number of arguments and facts have been put on table by researchers and scientists, but still I always find it a mystery. We always hear from experts, doctors, friends etc., for a person to stay healthy requires a healthy diet and regular exercise. Most of us never realize the impact of sleep on our health, while we are busy with work and our hectic lifestyle.

Sleep is an essential biological need of every life in this universe. It provides the necessary support to our immune system required to fight the bad bugs in the body. Moreover, there is one hormone called “leptin”, the building block of fat cells responsible for maintaining weight, gets out of track with improper sleeping cycle. It’s the bitter truth of our modern age lifestyle, that we spend majority of our day on our smartphones and laptops. And not surprisingly, we even compromise our sleep pattern for the same (and here comes the trouble…… Sleep deprivation).

Strong heart. Fit body. Clear skin. Toned muscles. Calm nerves. Happy soul. Big smile!

Want it?

Eat right. Exercise. SLEEP ENOUGH.

Truly, sleep is the third crucial part of a healthy lifestyle. Here are some quick points to consider:

  • A sound sleep improves the levels of heart health, lack of sleep is one of the major factors in the deposition of calcium in the arteries.
  • Yes, various research papers have showcased the fact that lack of sleep prompts us to get hungry (false hunger).
  • People with bad sleeping habits (sleeping for short span of time like, 4/5 hours) expose themselves to the risk of high blood pressure which consequently causes reactive chains responsible for cardiovascular diseases.
  • According to study conducted by Uppsala University in Sweden, lack of sleep triggers the neuro degenerative chain reactions, not good at all for our brain health.
  • Lack of sleep means your brain and body are not getting enough rest to function properly, which in turn slows down the metabolic rate.

I read somewhere, results don’t happen during workout, they happen while refueling the body with nutrients and sleep. The scientific explanation for the same is, while sleeping our body releases the growth hormone, responsible for the regeneration of the muscles which in turn boosts our physical energy levels.

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.
