Endorphins makes me HAPPY :)

Exercise is the most potent and underutilized antidepressant……. and it’s free.

Unknown.

Regular exercising has so many benefits for our health and prevents the potential risk of many problems like, depression, anxiety, obesity, and heart diseases etc. Moreover it is packed with emotional benefits as well. Lately, I recognised/observed (YES!!) that exercising makes me happy and active throughout the day. I have much better mood, and lifted spirits which actually makes me feel better. When we exercise our brain sends signal to suppress the effects of pain and anxiety. Let me tell you, I was kind of a person who hated going to gym or even brisk walking, but everything changed after my boy came in my life. I started to stay more conscious about my health and fitness as I had blogged (Getting fit! Getting Healthy!) earlier.

And that’s the good thing that happened to my health. Once I built my stamina (which of course will take some time), I started enjoying my workout within minutes of starting the session. And on the contrary if I somehow miss my gym, I stay in some sort of guilt for the whole day. I am sure many of you can relate to my situation.

What happens technically when you exercise?

Our body starts releasing hormones like endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin….. (getting too much technical) which in turn suppresses the stress and pain effect even euphoria. Along with this, another chemical chain reaction takes place whose neurotrophic factor boosts our workout results (source: wikipedia). But this is how in short we feel so happy after the workout sessions. Apart from these, exercise provides mental relaxation, in simple words makes life easy to some extent.

I read somewhere: Happiness is won within, true actually.

Your self confidence is directly connected to how much you feel you are making a difference in the world.
