Fruit infusion ….. Boosting metabolism

Detoxification or fasting is an ancient practice to cleanse our body system from toxins and is hugely followed. Whether its Greek, Roman or Indian, this has been followed since ages by human race. While browsing for a healthy weight lose over Internet I found several articles on detoxification with fruit and vegetable infused water. I thought of giving fruit infused water a try along with basic fitness regime and it’s really worth it. This doesn’t have any calories, rather enriches the body with lots of vitamins, proteins and other required micro-nutrients.

Water by itself is very helpful in keeping out the toxins from body, but with addition of few powerful nutrient enriched fruits and vegetables, it can be made a heavenly detoxifier.

In today’s blog I will highlight such fruit infused drinks, that actually make you feel lighter. Although you can find number of recipes on internet for the same, but personally I would go with the ones that cover almost all the micro-nutrients required to flush out toxins from human body.

Cucumber Crush

Cucumber the cooling agent for summers, found in all parts of the world. This veggie comes with refreshing flavor with 95% of water. Its a good source of Vitamin B5, C and K that helps body in developing the immune system.


Recipe

To make this infused detoxifier, put 5-6 slices of cucumber along with some mint leaves (one can add lemon slices as well) in a glass of water, refrigerate it for a hour and the wonder drink is ready.

Kiwi is one fruit which is very rich in Vitamin C & E, required for youthful and healthy skin. It contains potassium, thus keeps the heart healthy as well. For making a clash of nutrients I chose Musk melon along with it, as it has high water content and negligible fat, again rich in potassium.

Recipe

For making one portion of the infusion, take a peeled kiwi slice it into 4-5 portions along with 2-3 cubes of Musk melon and refrigerate it with water (add few lemon drops if you wish). And here you go, its ready !!

Watermelon Wave

Watermelon is found in almost every part of world specially in summers. You can find it in abundant quantity in India specially in Bangalore (as I have observed). It has the highest water content (almost 91%) and is good source of vitamin C, A, B6 and low in fat content.

Recipe

Watermelon itself has the most refreshing flavour so no need to add any other fruit or veggie with it. Simply take few cubic slices, put them in a glass of water (or you can vary the quantity of water you want, but when you are giving a first try let it be in limited quantity). Refrigerate the same for a hour and the detox drink is ready.

Citrus Tornado

Citrus fruits include orange, lemon grapefruit, mausami etc.. They are rich source of Vitamin C, that helps in absorption of iron in food, thereby improving the whole digestion process.

Recipe

My favorite!! Take all or any citrus fruit (2-3 slices of orange, grapefruit and sweet lime), mix them in glass of water, refrigerate and ready to go ….. Soooo easy & quick 🙂
